On Sunday 2nd June, ASCC, on behalf of the Muslims of Spelthorne, held an Open Day for the wider community. We intended to invite our beloved neighbours to a day of fun, warmth and food and to provide them with an insight into the life of our centre, our objectives and our 'open door' policy.
The day was a complete success! We had representatives from the Borough of Spelthorne, local Police Liaison Officers, Christian Leaders and local Charity representatives. We had many activities for both adults and children, including henna hand painting, food stalls, face painting, arts and crafts, cookie decorating, duck in the pond games and a fabulous bouncy castle! The Police were on hand to lend their vehicles for intrusive inspection by the thrilled toddlers who eagerly jumped at the opportunity to sit in a ‘cop car’! It was great family day which really brought the whole community together. The event was truly a celebration of the beliefs, common values and tolerance we all share as members of this community. On behalf of all of us here at ASCC & Noah’s Ark, we thank you sincerely for partaking in this great day and hope we can continue to serve and benefit the community. Please check out our pictures and videos! "I was humbled to witness the unveiling of this fantastic new centre for the community - the warmth of the volunteers and the attendees was lovely to see and the open door policy was very welcoming. I look forward to more activity at the centre... ps. the biryani was excellent too!" - Open day attendee, Ashford.
