NOAHS ARK - MUSLIM HERITAGE INITIATIVE

Picture
As part of Noahs Ark Muslim Heritage initiative, we have organised several trips to significant and historic locations around Britain.

These trips are intended to provide our children with a greater and intimate understanding of the rich history, significance and contributions Muslims have made in Britain.

We find the narrative around the British Muslim experience subdued or indeed intently absent from modern British history. Many of our children and adults are simply not aware of the great historic contributions Muslims have made in the UK, the indelible mark they have made on the people, culture and landscape of modern Britain.

We are deeply grateful to the efforts of Everyday Muslim, a long-term project to create a central archive of Muslim lives, arts, education and cultures from across the UK. Their aim is to collect and document the presence and contribution of Muslim life in Britain through images, interviews and documents; to provide a comprehensive and unmediated portrayal of Muslim life in Britain.

In line with Everyday Muslim's objective, these trips aim "to educate and empower the Muslim community in the importance of creating tangible connections between their Muslim heritage and the representation of their identity in the wider society."
